OUTPATIENT Joint Replacement AT NPSC
As the premier provider of orthopedic care in Central Pennsylvania, North Pointe Surgery Center (NPSC) is proud to be the first in the region to offer Outpatient (Same-Day) Joint Replacement Surgery. Patients stand, walk, and return home the same day as surgery!
The goal of an outpatient joint replacement is to provide our patients with better outcomes as inpatient surgery while also reducing costs, increasing patient comfort, and avoiding risks associated with a hospital stay. Traditionally performed as inpatient procedures, total hip and knee replacements, can now be performed on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to go home just hours after surgery. You may be a candidate for same-day joint replacement surgery if you are active and in good health, with no major medical conditions. If you have a strong support system at home, with family or friends who are willing to assist in your recovery and are committed to your physical therapy care plan and doing what it takes to recover at home.
What is Outpatient Joint Replacement?
The number of joint replacement surgeries performed in outpatient facilities has greatly increased over the last few years and continues to grow. It is safe and cost-effective for appropriately selected patients. All outpatient joint replacement surgeries performed take place at North Pointe Surgery Center.
